Dae Heon Kim is one of the main characters in the Netflix original series XO, Kitty. He previously appeared as a minor character in the To All the Boys: Always and Forever film.

Biography[]
To All the Boys: Always and Forever[]
The Covey family takes a trip to South Korea to celebrate their heritage, as well as reminisce about the life of their late mother. On a Love Lock Bridge near Seoul Tower, he and Kitty meet, and sparks instantly fly.
XO, Kitty[]
Season 1[]
In XO, Kitty he and Kitty have started a long distance relationship, but unbeknownst to him, Kitty gets accepted to KISS, and moves to Korea to see him. However, he ends up getting roped into being Yuri's fake boyfriend, in exchange for having his school fees paid for.
Season 2[]
Dae is still in love with Kitty, though their relationship is strained due to past awkwardness and his guilt over the tension between Kitty and Min Ho. He struggles with his feelings, particularly when Min Ho distances himself from him. Dae’s emotional turmoil intensifies when he finds out that Min Ho did have feelings for Kitty, causing further strain between the two friends.
When his father is hospitalized, Dae rushes to the hospital to be with him, showing his deep concern and responsibility for his family. His father, Mr. Kim, expresses his desire for Dae to focus on his studies and not take on any side jobs, which adds additional pressure on Dae because he knows they need the money. Despite the tension between Dae and Min Ho, Min Ho offers to help Dae, though Dae refuses the offer, choosing to deal with his problems on his own.
Dae also participates in a talent show during Seollal celebrations, where he teams up with Eunice for a dance performance. Although Dae struggles with the dance parts, Eunice encourages him and praises his singing abilities. Eventually, they start dating.
In the end, they have to perform separately because of the new performance contest rules. Dae's performance goes great, even after attempted sabotage by Stella, but Eunice wins the prize. Dae is really happy for her, even though he wanted to win the prize to help his family get more money. In the end, his father tells him it's ok because there is a lawsuit which will help them get more money.

Kitty Covey[]
Kitty is Dae's ex girlfriend.
Dae and Kitty met for the first time while she was on vacation in Korea with her family and sparks immediately flew.
In XO, Kitty, it is revealed that they started dating since then and have been in a long distance relationship for four years.
In XO, he FaceTimes Kitty, trying to talk to her despite long distance between them. Unknowingly to him, she gets an email confirming her scholarship at KISS minutes after their call.
A day later, during the evening of the Welcome Party he sees Kitty for the first time in years and hugs her. He's pleasantly surprised to learn that she transferred to KISS, but their moment gets ruined by Yuri, who introduces herself as his girlfriend, which results in Kitty running way despite Dae calling her.
In WTF, he wants to talk to Kitty but Yuri stops him, fearing her mother will notice it.
He can't manage to fix things when Kitty confronts him about cheating ; once again, Yuri intervenes saying he was only cheating on Kitty because she knew about her, which once again, makes Kitty upset. After the party, he texts her multiple times but all of his texts are ignored.
When he finds out about her being in the same dorm as him he is shocked but immediately takes the opportunity to talk to her ; he pretends to not know about her necklace despite actually wearing it because he doesn't want to give it back and still hopes to fix things.
After being kicked out of his own room he tries to text Kitty once again to tell her the truth about the necklace, but his texts don't go trough as she has blocked him. He then crashes outside her bedroom door.
The next day, as soon as he wakes up and realizes Kitty left he runs to her despite still being in his pijamas ; he manages to find her and just as he's about to kiss her his father arrives, asking him to come with him to see Han family, which he has to do.
In KISS, he stops Min Ho from reporting Kitty to the dorm warden and tries to have a conversation with her, starting by saying he only lied about being rich because he thought she wouldn't want to date him otherwise. Just as he begins to the explain his situation with Yuri though, they get interrupted by Minho and Q, who drag Dae to class. At last, he manages to promise Kitty that he will explain everything.
That afternoon, they finally have time to talk as he is assigned to be Kitty's tutor, but once Yuri interrupts them and tells Dae about Kitty revealing Minho's secret to everyone, he doesn't trust her anymore and distances himself from her by lying about his relationship being real and giving her the necklace back.
In TGIF, Dae agrees to talk to Kitty as friends at the Outdoors Club, but their moment gets interrupted by Yuri, who separates them.
During the hike, as Yuri is distracted by bugs, Dae and Kitty start a conversation again and have yet another moment as Dae rescues Kitty when she's about to fall, which causes Yuri to intervene again.
When Dae arrives on top of the mountain he poses with Yuri for a photo taken by Kitty, which Yuri purposely asked Kitty to upset her.
In TBH, after days of living in the same space and Kitty admitting she's struggling with them being just friends he wants to tell her the truth, but a call from Yuri interrupts him and Kitty takes it as a signal to leave him alone.
In BYOB, at Min Ho's party he swoons over Kitty, though he's actually Yuri's date. He tries to talk to Kitty but she ignores him, approaching another guy.
Later, she gets mad at him for not being grateful for her gift, which leaves Dae confused as he doesn't know what she's talking about. Finding out that Yuri was behind all of it he tries to tell Kitty, but because of the very loud music she misunderstands his words, thinking he's telling her how much he loves Yuri, and she agrees.
In TIL, Dae is upset about the necklace and coldy tells Yuri that he wants to break up with her and not lose Kitty.
Later at the library, an upset Yuri threatens to report Kitty being in the boys dorm if Dae breaks up with her.
However, at the end of the detention a surprised Dae gets publicly dumped by Yuri, who privately tells him that he's now free. Immediately after Dae goes to Kitty and kisses her.
In LFG, Dae and Kitty are finally together but he can't tell her about the real reason behind the fake dating, which causes Kitty to not trust him completely.
On the bus on the way to the camping trip Dae confesses to Yuri about it and she promises to help him win her trust back.
With the help of Yuri he organizes a date for Kitty which ends up with the two of them saying "I love you" to each other and kissing.
In SNAFU, Dae is very happy about being with Kitty and promises her that they'll all help her with her grades.
At the talent show Dae guesses something is up and after she confesses that she has feelings for someone else he assumes it must mean Min Ho and, deeply hurt, immediately runs to beat him up.
In OTP, Dae leaves Min Ho alone when she says it's not him and later confesses her feelings for Yuri. Dae is heartbroken and walks away, leaving Kitty alone.
The next day, as soon as he finds out that Kitty has been expelled he goes to the airport, where the two reunite and part, telling each other how important they were and are to eachother and realizing they're better off as friends.

Yuri Han[]
Yuri is Dae's fake ex girlfriend.
Dae and Yuri have known each other at least several years since he is the son of the Han's chauffeur and Yuri's tutor.
Before the Welcome Party, Yuri makes a deal with him promising to pay his tuition if he fakes being her boyfriend during the party. At the party though, he is surprised to see Kitty, since he didn't know that she had transferred to KISS. He wants to tell Kitty the truth right away, but Yuri insists that he wait until the following day, when presumably her parents would force them to break up. However, Yuri's parents take advantage of her relationship with a low-income student to repair her father's image after he is caught being abusive to one of his employees. Dae is summoned a press conference where he is announced as Yuri's boyfriend and an intern at Han Hotel.
On the first day of school, Yuri confesses that the reason she needs him to be her fake boyfriend is to cover up the fact that she is gay and in a secret relationship with Juliana. Dae is sympathetic towards her situation, but still wants to tell Kitty the truth. However, he does not once he finds out that Kitty shared a secret about Min Ho and decides that Kitty may not be as trustworthy as he initially thought.
