It's a whole new semester. And I'm going to make the most of it.

—- Kitty Covey

Synopsis[]

When Kitty heads back to KISS for her second semester, she’s single for the first time in a long time and ready for a fresh start: no more meddling, no more drama. Maybe just some casual dating — emphasis on casual. But she has more to worry about than her love life, as a letter from her mother’s past sets her on a wild journey, and new faces at KISS bring change. As secrets unravel and bonds are tested, Kitty will learn that life, family, and love are more complicated than she ever imagined.

Development[]

On June 14, 2023, Netflix renewed the series for a second season.[1]

The 2023 strikes delayed the production of season 2. The strikes by the Writer's Guild of America (WGA) and the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) impacted the production of many Netflix shows, including XO, Kitty. This prevented the writers from working on season 2 until the strikes ended in September 2023.

Casting[]

It was announced that Audrey Huynh, Sasha Bhasin, and Joshua Lee would join the cast for season 2. Additionally, Noah Centineo would debut as his original character, Peter, in the series.[2]

Filming[]

Filming began in April 2024 in South Korea and wrapped in June 2024.

Trivia[]

  • On June 22, 2023, Lana Condor mentioned that if the opportunity came up, she would not be opposed to appearing on the series. But did stress that there have not been any official conversations between her and Jenny Han.[3]
  • On June 24, 2023, Sang Heon Lee teased that that he is just as curious about the cliffhanger between Kitty and Min-ho after his big romantic confession in OTP.[4]
  • On February 11, 2024, it was revealed that filming for Season 2 would begin in April to June, with the casting of 3 new characters.
  • While the first season episodes were all titled with acronyms, this season's episodes were all given the word "kiss" in different varieties.
